About Real or Fake Ltd

Real or Fake Ltd is a daily game about the UK company register, built by Brand West.

Where the data comes from

Every figure comes from the free Companies House bulk data product, using the file dated 1 November 2026. It covers 5,711,779 live companies. It leaves out dissolved companies, and it can contain mistakes made when companies filed their details.

How the game works

Real names in the game were checked as active on the register. Made-up names were checked to make sure no live company with that exact name was on the register on that date. Someone could register one later.

How the pages are made

Funny name lists are picked by hand. Town and trade pages are calculated from the register, so their figures are counts, not opinions. A company's registered address and declared trade may differ from what it does day to day.

Corrections and removals

A name appearing here says nothing about the company behind it. To correct something or ask for a name to be removed, email info@brandwest.co.uk.
